Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. She has also starred in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. As the sole daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney grew up with her four brothers. She dreamed of being a reporter for the court in her early years, but began modeling in high school eventually garnering commercials after moving to New York. Delaney was portrayed as a young innocent in 1981's soap opera All My Children. Delaney was a talented young actress from the 1980s has appeared in several films TV movies and in dramas. Similar to her profession, her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. She has also experienced two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, she was denied custody of her only child that she had.
